Founded by Lea-Anne, South West Reptile Rescue and Rehabilitation is a small, home-run, volunteer-based reptile rescue offering compassionate care, support with surrendering pets and opportunities to adopt.
Self-funded and not for profit, the rescue is proud to be part of the Central Reptile Rescue Network. Lea-Anne’s approach is simple: helping reptiles and the people who care for them, without judgement.
Reptile surrender without judgement
Circumstances change, and asking for help with a pet isn’t always easy. Lea-Anne welcomes surrender enquiries for all types of reptiles, including snakes, geckos and bearded dragons, offering an understanding approach to owners who can no longer provide the care their animal needs.
The rescue has seen an increase in reptiles being abandoned. These animals are vulnerable when left outdoors in the British climate, where cold temperatures and unsuitable conditions can put their lives at risk.
Lea-Anne would much rather someone came forward to discuss surrendering their reptile than felt they had no choice but to abandon it. If you are struggling, please get in touch. The focus is on finding a safe way forward for your animal, without judgement.
Reptile adoption, education and support
The rescue works to rehome reptiles with suitable adopters, helping them understand their new companion’s needs before bringing them home.
Whether you are considering adopting a snake, gecko or bearded dragon, education and support are an important part of the process. Lea-Anne helps adopters understand suitable housing, heating, lighting and diet, so they can provide an appropriate home and ongoing care.
Support the rescue
As a self-funded, volunteer-based rescue, help with essential supplies makes a difference. You can support the reptiles in Lea-Anne’s care by purchasing items from the rescue’s Amazon wish list. or Donate via their PayPal.
